Hello Everyone,

An application I have just started working on has its main DBC included in the VFP exe. The exe file is on a network drive and each user's workstation is configured to load the VFP exe from the network drive.

The dbc in question contains all of the remote views. No one has been able to tell me why this was done this way - I can only guess that they felt that each instance of the EXE that is loaded by the workstation will effectively have its own copy of the DBC and minimise the locking contention issues when loading a view from a dbc. On this system there are some 200+ users.

Does anyone have a view (pardon the pun) as to whether this would in fact be the case ie., would each user loading the exe actually get exclusive access to the DBC that is bound into the exe file itself?

I would really appreciate your thoughts on this!

Very many thanks,

Regards

Angie.
