Lately every PDF document with more than a few pages seems to take forever to print. The laser printer "spins up", prints a page, then "spins down" between every sheet. Printing a 20 page Word document results in a continuous flow of paper through the printer. Not so with a PDF document. We've tested on HP 5SiMx, 4300, and 4600. Same problems. I have seen this before and thought it was a memory issue on the 5SiMx. The 4300 has 96MB so it should not be memory. I'm not sure if it matters, but the same document printed from Word generates a print job of 800K, while the PDF print job is over 7 MB.

I thought the problem was Acrobat 6 since it is such a poor performer in other areas. Installing Acrobat 5 makes little difference.

Anyone else seen this or have a solution.
