I've tried you suggestion, but no luck, the same behaviour.
And there is more, some pictures are diplayed magnified and clipped even if the size specified is the same as picture size.

They must do something about this, PNGs are a much better choice than bitmaps/jpegs, and there are a lot of nice free Gnome and KDE theme packs :)
