Sometimes I display messages in methods. However, I do run some jobs during night when no one is there to press the OK button on the MessageBox(). To overcome this problem, I pass a parameter to the method that controls whether or not the messages will be displayed in the methods.

So, depending on the need, the messages may be displayed in the methods or in the calling program (or even not displayed at all. E.g. sometimes I collect all error messages and email them).
