I prefer to think that life adapted to these specific conditions. At least, the other planets in the Solar System are not investigated thoroughly enough to completely rule out the possibility of any life form. The search for life has quite often concentrated on the life forms we know, and not given sufficient consideration for alien (i.e. different) life forms.
