If I think about the types of dress that I have
super casual: shorts, t-shirt and sandals: beach, around the house, and downtown on hot days
casual: jeans, t-shirt and running shoes (or other sport shoes): most common outside of work
dress: khakis, collared shirt, dress shoes: for work or dinner out with family

I stopped wearing a suit full-time to work about 12 years ago and 10 year ago completely. Stopped wearing a tie to work about 5 years ago. I no longer wear a tie to funerals or weddings, though I would buy a suit if one of my close family were to pass away.
