1. If you go to your Account Configuration/Interface (under the computer icon on the left panel) and check the "Autoreply" checkbox, the original message will be automatically quoted when you make a reply.

2. No, there is no option to remove the messages after you read them. The message link is just changing its color as usual. There is an option for that under Mailbox icon, and in "Private messages".

You can also check the Help link on the UT login page for more info on different UT features.
