Just to muddy the waters <g>
I can get the animated icons in the Plus! pack to work, provided that they are the standard icons.
Someone had a kind of wild animals theme installes, the Wait cursor instead of an hourglass is a sort of squid thing.
Its tentacles wave just fine - because I set the MousePointer to a standard value (12 I think).

It's only the custom cursor setting that doesn't work, apparently.
