>ODBC is a more open standard that works only on relational data. OLE DB was created by Microsoft (COM-based) and is designed to work on any kind of data, including text files. Using OLE DB directly requires that you use C++. ADO is a COM wrapper around OLE DB that makes it usable in VB, VFP, etc. OLE DB is a bit lighter weight than ODBC and uses fewer system resources.
