Hi Tracy,
As you pointed out, complimentary PUTM based on Solution Points is not a good idea. I think the majority of people here never bother giving out points. I don't even bother looking at my points as I think they're pretty meaningless. =(
That said, I also think that you're correct in noting that there are a lot of great contributers here that are *not* MVPs. So, where/how do you determine who gets a complimentary PUTM? I don't have any good suggestions, other than the logical place to start is with the MVPs. Personally, from my standpoint, I don't mind shelling out what usually amounts to less than $100 a year for PUTM. I've been doing it for many years ... even back when I was a "starving programmer" and could really not afford it (it was a tax write-off <g>). I'll continue to pay for PUTM because I want the additional flexibility I get (even though I'm not self-employed at this point, so it's not a tax write-off anymore) ... unless of course, Michel wants to give it to me for free. <g>
So, yeah, right now I'd benefit from a free PUTM but that's not why I advocate it. I think it makes good business sense for Michel to offer it.
Just my 2 cents.
