thank you, this code is kind of a mess that was handed down to me to fix, the other developer left. the problem is i cannot find the code that is generating the error. i have a form that has a list in it i pick one item from the list it executes some code which then calls another form which closes that form and in turn executes more code then when the code is done the first form is closed but before that can happen the error is generated. i have searched high and low for what the culprit could be and have came up empty handed. i will try what you gave me but without knowing where the error begins where should i put the "on error *" ? and will that mess with my own error handling method?

yes i work in downtown tacoma it beats driving to seattle every day.
