If you think you can't get more confusedI don't think that's quite right. The Z80 was 8 bit, the first 16 bit (from Intel) was the 8086. The Z8000 (I think) was Zilog's first 16 bit processor.
[Update] Z-80 was 8 pit CPU with 16 bit address bus. Sort of a "half-breed".
