>>>I have not had vfp 8 for very long time but I noticed that my compiled .exe's (Win 32 executable /COM server (exe)) run on newly installed systems(XP) without benefit of installshield of VFP runtime files. Can't find alot of reference documentaion on this. Can someone point me to an article or clue me in?

Are you saying you copied a folder with a VFP exe and tables to to an XP system, and it worked?

That would be great news if true - Microsoft has finally recognized the importance of VFP and is bundleing VFP runtime with XP! (wishful thinking!:)

Could the system be an XP upgrade install (installed over ME or W2K or W98)?

do a file search on the C:\Program files folder for any files with VFP in the name. There must be some there. If they are not supposed to be there, and you find them - then somethings up. Maybe a date on an INT file in the windows system folder can provide more clues.

Is it possible to create a "working" XP drive from a backup. Ask your clients IT or Help desk whats up.
