The problems with formsets aren't so much about data access. It's just that the product isn't really designed around them, and some newer capabilities don't work with formsets (if I remember right). Also, very few people have used them, so there aren't many articles about them, and not a lot of people who can offer help if you have problems.
Formsets were included in VFP 3 to provide an upgrade pathj for people who'd been using screensets in FoxPro 2.x. Neither Microsoft nor most VFP experts have ever recommended them for new development.
