I am going to need to understand this before I can convince the design team to take this route, and also understand the pros and cons of MSDE. As I asked in my response to Thomas Ganss, who also suggested MSDE, I need to know if I can install it along with my .NET app, if it runs locally as a service, and if I can start and stop it from C# code.

Do I pull the data from SQL and then connect to MSDE and push it onto MSDE or is there a way for C# to have MSDE download directly from SQL?
