Hi Tracy,

Now I'm even more confused. Thanks for the info. I thought that IBM made the first PC.

>The first pc was the Kenbak-1 personal computer in 1971. However it did not have a microprocessor but integrated circuits. The French Micral was the first microprocessor-based personal computer and it was manufactured in 1973. The Bostom Computer museum awarded the title of first microcomputer to the Kenbak in 1986 and first microprocessor-based personal computer to Micral. The Altair 8800 computer came out in kit form in 1974 using the Intel 8080 processor.

>>>I don't think that's quite right. The Z80 was 8 bit, the first 16 bit (from Intel) was the 8086. The Z8000 (I think) was Zilog's first 16 bit processor.
>>>
>>>[Update] Z-80 was 8 pit CPU with 16 bit address bus. Sort of a "half-breed".

>>First PC's were Z80, The first that came out with the 8086 was IBM Model 30, not sure what my PC Jr had but my ZX81 used the Z80. ;-)
Regards,

Mike
