Note that ShellExecute will open a document with its default application. For instance, on my computer, an HTML document would be opened with Opera instead of Internet Explorer. This is usually desirable, since you don't know wheter a particular piece of software is installed, or not. For instance, a user may not have purchased MS-Office, but may still have the possibility to open Excel documents, say, with StarOffice Calc.
