As I read it, the plan is to get you to agree to develop a product and market it within the next couple years. You just apply at the link I gave in my original responce, and you are stepped through a wizard and answer a few questions. It took probably an hour to do all this (because I didn't have a NET Password), and they approved me in like 24 hours, and then sent me the passwords to start the downloads of software within a few days. The DVD's arrived in about a week.

You get the full MSDN Universal package for $375 (US price was anyway), and some other Microsoft help as well in encouraging you to develop for the Windows platform. It appears you can also renew for this price once if you need a little additional time in developing your product.

As I explained to someone else in this thread, it looked like to me that the MSDN Universal DVD's did not have to be destroyed when this deal ran out, but I could be wrong (and if I am I will just order a regular MSDN Univ package in three years if required).

I am not really sure of all the details of this program outside of the USA, but I am personally glad I went this way.
