If you're still having trouble with #2, try this:

- Launch your app in windowed mode (may have to press Alt-Enter if you've configured it as Full Screen on the shortcut properties).
- Right-click in the title bar of the window and select Properties.
- Go to the Layout tab.
- The Screen Buffer height and Window height may be defaulting to 50 - change them to 25.
- Click OK.
- You'll be asked if you want to apply the properties to only the current window or all future windows with the same title; choose the latter and click OK.
- Exit the app and re-launch. Should come up OK.
