>You seem to be hitting my soft spots. "Father figure", no more, no less. Does anyone object to the lack of a "mother figure"? Or is the pater familias so important because it projects (psychologically) into further figures of boss, commander, priest, landlord, and any male god you may put at the end of the line. So a father figure is deemed to be necessary in order to perpetuate the male-ruled hierarchies and make sure there's never a true equality of genders.

>As to the evidence you mention, sure - this is a man's world. With nobody there to tell them all the dirty tricks that most women just don't want to have anything with... of course they're less equipped for the society as it is now. Does that really/necessarily mean they're worse persons?
I feel it is better for parents to be equals, however that cannot always be practical. One wants to buy a new car, the other doesn't. Who decides? Logic does not always play an equal role in both parents. If partner 1 likes the old car for sentimental reasons and partner 2 wants a new car for safety and they can afford it, the logical should outweigh the sentimental.
If partner 1 wants the new car, and partner 2 feels it is too expensive, logic again should prevail. In all cases do the right thing. For who? For the whole family!!! Regardless of genders.
However I feel a child of male and female parents will be better prepared for interractions with both genders.
