I have discovered when printing the same report ASCII with different data on 2 machines that the beginning and ending positions of report fields is different in the 2 resulting text files. I would have thought that the text files would have the same positioning. I am not talking about having the report fields line up nicely. I am talking about being able to parse the resulting text file which I cannot do if the positioning is not the same from machine to machine.

Report 1 field 1 starts at 1 and goes to 10, field 2 starts at 11 and goes to 14, field 3 starts at 17 and goes to 25.
Report 2 field 1 starts at 1 and goes to 10, field 2 start at 11 and goes to 14, field 3 STARTS AT 19 and goes to 27 and so on.

The reports are consistent internally regarding positioning.
What governs this and is it possible to control?

Thank you.
A problem is a problem only as long as it has a possible solution. Lacking that, it becomes a FACT!
