I have family (emigrated in the 19th century) who lives in the States and Hawaii. Each year they compose a letter that deals with what happened last year. It contains every detail about everybody of the family who achieved something. It is certainly not a habit in the Netherlands and in the beginning it struck me because it seems so 'overdone' (I don't know a better word).

>You say that your Ph.D.'s irrelevant. I don't get it. That proves something about you. At least it proves that you have the potential to learn stuff and succeed.

Well, it is indeed on my resume, in the appropriate section Education. But you won't find my resume on, for example, my website. I don't believe that adding it over there will persuade any potential client. If the potential client wants it, I can send it, of course.

I believe that the degree of quality that one has to offer should be made clear to the client in all kinds of details, for example in a website's structure, layout, use of language, what is written. In results, so to speak. My website is not so advanced, but I did it all myself. I know a lot of people who let others construct and edit their beautiful website while they themselves are hardly capable of writing a normal piece of code or text.
Groet,
Peter de Valença

If there’s no willingness to moderate for the sake of good debate, then I have no willingness to debate at all.
Let's develop superb standards that will end the holy wars.
