Sorry for those empty fields, the values of them should have been string values. I will turn off the group by and see what the query produces as you suggest, but the odd thing is that the field where I'm doing the (sum(table2.field1)+table2.field2) as newfield2 is coming out correctly and there are many more entries meeting the filter conditions, it's only newfield3 where the sum is doubled.

Oh well, I wasn't sure if maybe I had something wrong with the GROUP BY clause or not that was obviosuly missing.
