CDO 1.21 still used MAPI and still triggered the Outlook message, but since the arrival of CDO 2.0 (CDO For Window 2000) which uses Internet Protocols rather than MAPI, the security patch no longer appears.

>I have and CDO still triggers the outlook security measures, I have now sorted a good way of solving the issue, I have taken the (slightly buggy but I fixed it) code from wiki to send smtp mail and effectivly talk straight to the exchange server, no outlook to cause issues anymore, it does take a fair bit more code but has the advantage of not relying on yet more dcom and not filling up my sentbox with loads of job run emails :)

>for anyone interested I upgraded to the latest version of office, and the excel C0000005 errors appear to have gone (can't believe I've just said that!) that plus avoiding outlook... wiki link... http://fox.wikis.com/wc.dll?Wiki~SendSmtpEmail has solved all my problems, something I did note, I am using a PS driver for the network printer and the latest version of excelxp (with updates) shifts scaling over to the printer, ok this isn't interesting but noticable in that rather than printing multiple sheets fast the printer now has to do the scale70% (or whatever it happens to be) to fit on page effect which slows it right down. not that I'm bothered.

>oh if anyone tries that smtp stuff I added a note on the page of one of the issues in the code, but also found a couple of others, feel free to ask me if you have problems, I think the author did it in a hurry.
