No, that would not work as security and authentication information is written there. What if you buy a commercial application that writes error information to the log and some policy prohibits that? You may never have the information needed to write to the log. If you can log onto the computer, you can write to the event log. The problem with WSH is that it is possible to use it to do nasty things to the computer. That's not possible with writing to the log. The worst thing that can happen is that you fill the log and no more entries can be made.
