here in the USA you have to go visit the inspectors once a year, unless u purchased a new vehicle, then you initially go after 2 years, after that its yearly. the price here is around 26 (or was it 28) dollar which is a government fee (not sure about the other states, but imagine its the same).
now, Germany, i do not remember, i moved out of germany 14 years ago. if memory serves correctly inspections are due every 2 years, and the price tag - no clue. in any case, i am sure that has changed by now.
maybe someone currently living in good 'ol Germany can jump in here?!
