>Hi Denis. When do you plan to upgrade to VFP 9.0 and what are some of your favorite features in the new version?

I'd like to upgrade as soon as it's released.

I downloaded the beta but did'nt really used it. I did'nt really have the time to test it. I'm working on an application in VFP7 and all my development time goes into this project. But I've seen presentations mentioning the new features.

From the beta I downloaded there's something I tested right away. Perhaps it's not on your list of major improvements but to me it's on top of my favorites. It's the possibility of changing the fonts in many places (like the project manager). To me this is a very welcome addition.

From what I saw in a presentation at a user's group meeting the new report engine seems to be something really cool.

Now on a different topic:

Did you know that our FOX user's group got merged with the Visual Studio user's group. Sad news but in the end we were 5 or 6 attending the Fox meetings. Sad thing :-<

Not too long ago our Fox user's group was going really well. No-one is to blame for that decision to merge. Jean-René always did a terrific job but at a given point he had to take that painful decision.

But I don't mind about that because for what I have to do the FOX is still an unbeatable tool. So perhaps you'll understand me a little bit more when I complain about the marketing surrounding the Fox. If Montreal can't support a FoxPro user's group there's probably something wrong somewhere. we're not talking about a town with a tiny population. we're talking about a major city in Canada (more than 1 million persons)

I think that Toronto also lost its FoxPro user's group. Another major city in Canada. Bigger population than Montreal.

I realize that we probably don't have the same standpoint. Perhaps from your perspective things are not that bad. But from mine ... well I'm sure you get my point.

After writing all that I wanted to erase it because I was sure that I wrote it for nothing. But then to I thought that to me this is a good therapy ;-)

At least I tried something to revive the interest. If those in charge don't want to act based on facts that I and others brought up to your attention then why should we care anymore.

That is the last you'll hear from me about marketing of VFP (are'nt you glad). I'm sure that if MS does'nt do something interesting with the release of VFP9 (Marketing, Marketing, Marketing) then to me this means that VFP9 will be the last version I'll be using. I can't take the risk of using it longer even if it still is the right tool for what I have to do.

I make a living out of developing software. If you (MS) say that .Net is the only tool to use then I guess I'll have to use it (or something else). I can't take the risk no more to use a tool that even those making it don't like.

Oh and please don't reply saying that posts like mine only contribute to kill VFP. You proved over the last years that you don't need help to kill VFP.
