over here its e48 to have the NCT done, bi annual car test. if your car fails you have to get it fixed and resit whatever part of the test your car failed. if you are driving without the NCT your insurance can be invalid and it is difficult to get tax on the car as they wat to see a valid NCT certificate. having said that it has taken a lot of the older cars, death traps, off the road so i don't mind doing it, with our top speed limit about to go up it is more essential than ever to have these tests done.
