Writing your own spyware solution, or your own antivirus solution, is a tough job - there are literally thousands of pests you have to recognize. I think that if AdAware doesn't seem satisfactory for you, you are better off getting another purchased program.

Unless you want to dedicate several man-years of programming, and eventually sell your own spyware solution.
