Both DBs are excellent choices. Obviously SQL Server will run great in Win2000 Server but so does Oracle. Do you have any specific requirements that might tilt your solution to one DB or the other? Have you looked at pricing?

You could install the free versions of these [MSDE and Personal Oracle] and do some testing on each before deciding.
