I've not been happy with the system we use and haven't looked at Crimestar, since I can't make that call. We are in a system that is shared by the Memphis Police and Sheriff's office, plus a few smaller suburbs. The good thing about it is that it has a SQL Server back end and I can do what I need for reporting. The downside is I'm not in CONTROL. Visionaire is the vendor for our product, but it is expensive. I'd recommend looking at the Crimestar program, particularly if they'll sell you the source code, or provide hooks for you.
