I am just in the design stages of something quite similar. I am thinking of using the AutoFill textbox class I got off the UT to speed typing on the form. Then if the user types in an invalid item or presses a hotkey (I'm thinking F4) a modal 'lookup' form appears comprised of a listbox of valid choices and a textbox at the bottom, containing by default what the user typed in, to add choices to the lookup.

I would love to have a look at yours and maybe we could share our ideas on this. TIA

A text box and list box combination together with an option to add a new entry to the source table is part of the the .vcx resulting. I have to finish off the handback to the calling object over the next couple of days. Would you like a copy ?
