So, is it a bug in VFP8 that is now corrected in VFP9?

I had thought that I could use "COUNT FOR ..." or "SELECT .. FROM ...", and get the same result. In order to move to VFP9 and not break my app would you suggest I SET ANSI ON?

In the query with SET ANSI OFF comparison is only performed to the lenght of the shortest operand regardless if it is on the left or the right of the '=' sign. IOW, ALLTRIM() of empty ln value will produce zero lenght string which will match any expression on the right.
