Thanks for that information. I see I have to think a little more before running any test to discover/confirm something! I ran with shared and indeed the memo file does get re-written!

The question has already been asked as to why. I do want to note that this, of course, slows things down very much. I'd say it might also be a contributor to 'memo file corrupted' that seems to show up more frequently than other corruptions.
