I am using Doug's StartApp.prg to check for file updates on a server. I have come accross a situation where files are not being updated on the client and wonder if there is a workaround.

I have a client that has created a hidden share on the server ... the folder is shared as AM_INSTALL$. When the share is hidden with the $ after the share, files are not updated on the client machine. When I create a public share, i.e., AM_INSTALL (without the $), the files are updated without a problem.

In both situations, I was logged in as Administrator.

Any idea why making the shared folder hidden prevents the files from being written from the server to the client machine?

Is there a workaround so the client can keep the share hidden?
