When you install Office, under the Outlook selecton, under the "help" checkbox, make sure you select VBA for Outlook help which won't install otherwise, even if you otherwise do a "Complete" install.

Therein lies a pretty good description of the Outlook object model.

Dealing with Outlook ain't always easy, though I believe the tasks are relatively unencumbered.
