Jeff,
Benchmarking under Win32 is, and always has been at best, a difficult proposition. Since Win32 is a pre-emptive multitasking OS, a lot of things can affect the results. This ranges from what hardware is installed to what other things are running at the same time (and there're always other things running) to which version (and service pack) of Windows you're running. It surprises me not in the least that one person gets one set of results and another gets the opposite.
It's gotten to the point, for me, that I no longer even try to measure this sort of stuff.
