>If they have money to build nuclear bombs in India, they have the money to install a simple warning system. Lot of people can be evacuated in couple hours. In this case, all they had to do was to get to higher ground just a few blocks away. How many block can you walk walking four about thirty minutes?
Unfortunately, nuclear bombs - or armament in general - seem to be a top priority all over the World. Judging by the dollars spent, it is deemed more important than education, health, ecology, scientific research, or any other public investment.
By shifting priorities just a little bit (say, spending 30% less, World-wide, on setting up the Armageddon), not only 100.000 lives might be saved, but tens, or more likely hundreds, of millions, plus a lot of other benefits.
Difference in opinions hath cost many millions of lives: for instance, whether flesh be bread, or bread be flesh; whether whistling be a vice or a virtue; whether it be better to kiss a post, or throw it into the fire... (from Gulliver's Travels)
