If I don't bind the textbox, then (1) manually I set the controlsource = buildings_view.totsqfeet to give it a default. Then (2) I set the controlsource = "" so the user can type alpha characters, but it still won't allow them. If I don't do step (1) then it works the way I want it to. Somehow it seems to be remembering that it was a numeric field even after I set the controlsource = "".

I've also tried: controlsource = space(0)
