To add to the replies you've already gotten.

If you are in VFP and you do something like MODI COMM myprog.prg and then go to Windows Explorer and copy the file to a new place it will not let you do it because VFP has a hard read/write lock on the file.

The same thing happens if you USE TheTable, you can not copy TheTable.DBF until you've closed the file in VFP.
