Sorry, I misunderstood your reequest. I would suggest to use
http://www.whatismyip.org/. It returns pure IP so no parsing is necessary.

The local IP will not help in this situation. Take a look at the other response to my thread. This is a very cool way of getting at the public IP address assigned to the router.
