I usually use the designer aswell, but in the case of a report preview form I don't think the designer will be of much use (couldn't imagine creating some of the other forms without the designer though).

Just make sure the gift certificates are not for a store that sells anything computer related. <s> I have had good luck with gift certificates to steak houses.
