Right-click on any HTML-formatted message that you like and choose View Source to see what the page design is. These messages are not embedding graphics, just using IMG links, or background CSS settings, etc.

If you want to use relative URLs from your site, just include a BASE tag in the HEAD section that provides an absolute reference URL. You'll see that's how Michel is doing those emails.
