Hi David.

Grids do their own thing, I've had the alias switch simply by moving some other application window across them. This is well known to people trying to run a report while a grid still has focus.

Yes, that is true. Is there still aproblem when instantiating a modal form when a grid has focus? I think that this used to cause problems if the modal form tried to switch work areas - the currently selected work area would switch back to the grid's RecordSource.

But that's within a single datasession so far as I know, so I could be quite wrong about
them causing probs when switching ds.

Well, as you know, the data classes do quite a bit of that and I have not seen any problems with it so far.

Some of my session objects do run forms which run in the same datasession. Do you think that's necessarily a bad thing?

Nope - I do the same thing on occasion. For example, my report manager object ( based on the session class) instantiates a formset with a default data session to use for preveiewing the report.

It's 32 deg C outside :-)

You wouldn't like it here at all - it is 28 deg F outside ( about -2 deg C ).
