Interesting, but how are you doing this? Are you programticly chaning the .dbc's connection string somehow? This is something I've been wanting to do too, but haven't been happy with what I've come up with thus far.
Another thing you could do Julie is perhaps modify this HOSTS file so that it would point the network server's IP address to your local machine when not connected to the netowrk.

My program first looks for the server at my company, where I usually use my laptop. If it doesn't find that server, it looks for my home server. If that server is also not available, my system uses local data.
