Hi Denis, thanks for the reply.
>I'd say that if you're looking for a 9 to 5 job then it would be practically impossible to find one for VFP.
Not so in the UK, I get email feeds from various job-agencies with around 10 new positions a week. Nearly all are not suitable for me because of one or more of the following...
a) They are too far away and will not consider remote working, even some of the time.
b) They want other skills in addition to VFP which I do not have (eg. VB, .NET)
c) The salary they are offering is an insult - they would be lucky to get a college-leaver for that rate!
>I mean for a while because we all know that VFP's days are counted. The only thing we don't know is when.
If that is the case, I don't look forward to it, and there is a small part of me that wishes that MSFT would give us the 'deadline date' so that we can plan ahead and learn new languages/technologies accordingly.
Do you remember the rumours circulating in the mid-late '90s that claimed that MSFT was going to combine VFP and VB so that VB would get VFP's data-engine and object orientation. I think the name 'Visual FoxBasic' was being suggested. Pity it didn't happen, I think it would have been a winner for fans of both languages, VFP would be better-known and we wouldn't be having this conversation!
Regards,
Alan
