I knew there was a way to do it, but I couldn't find it again. Where is it documented? (or what is it found under in help)

BTW, you can use the mouse to choose your area, too. Use the mouse to pick the starting spot, Ctrl-Shift-F8, then drag your mouse where you want to mark.
