>>I read the article and had no problem. Its interesting how some people find errors in grammar hard to deal with and some don't. Thats not a judgement on you by the way .

>I understand. Grammer doesn't bother me as much, either because I know it's more subtle and harder to define, or I'm just not smart enough to know the difference. Spelling mistakes and omitted words are much more obvious though. Guess it's just me. Woudn't be the first time. <s>

I'm 180 degrees the other way.

Spelling errors don't bother me. If you use a spell checker their will bee many thymes the wrong word will get passed the software. Proof-reading one's own work for spelling errors is a lost caws (especially in my case).

But hideous grammar and mis-used words drive me up the wall. This is particularly true in formal correspondence. When the CEO of my company posts a letter on our intranet it really should be grammatically correct.

My three particular pet peeves:

3. Incorrect use of "your/you're" and "there/their/"they're"

2. Misuse of subjective and objective pronouns

1. Misuse of the reflexive (myself)

I don't know why that last one irks me so much, but a line such as "Please reply to Steve or myself" is like chalk on a blackboard for me.

SEPARATE BUT RELATED TOPIC

Over the years I've taken classes in four foreign languages. I actually enjoy "errors" in the posts here by non-native English speakers. It's an interesting view into the sentence structure and idiomatic use of their native languages.
