I thought I read somewhere that the OleDB provider has newer support than the ODBC driver. If that's the case, perhaps the ODBC driver doesn't recognize some parts of a VFP 8 database?

The VFP ODBC driver doesn't support any new data features introduced in VFP7 and later, like DBC events, integer fileds, e.t.c.
