Then, I need to find a way to dump that image into a regular CD. Then, I need to run it from the CD. Why is that so complicated?

I use Daemon-tools from http://www.daemon-tools.cc/dtcc/portal/index.php which allows you to mount an ISO image as a volume w/o burning on CD.
